Welcome to Northern Skies Outpost Cabin on Frobel Lake, in the picturesque Mississagi Valley, Northern Ontario, Canada. Trek into a small cabin nestled between the soaring granite cliffs of the Canadian Shield. Spend your days exploring old growth forests, unbelievable caves, moose pasture, beaver ponds and clean clear lakes and streams in this pocket of isolated, untouched wilderness.
Northern Skies Outpost Cabin is a remote cabin available to rent for solo treks, couples looking for a romantic adventure, a group of friends or families looking for a unique wilderness expedition.
The cabin is located deep in the Mississagi Provincial Park and is accessible only by hiking over moderate terrain and canoeing two lakes. The trek in takes about two hours – minus rest stops, exploring and picnics!
No portaging is required, as two canoes are cached on each lake.
The cabin itself is a cozy and comfortable hand-built A-frame cottage on a sandy beach with a wood-fired sauna. It is the only cabin on the lake. In fact it’s the only cabin for miles around, meaning the silence is complete, the darkness deep and the night sky filled with thousands of stars. The isolated wilderness setting means there is no electricity or running water, which adds to the adventure!
Water jugs filled in the lake for drinking, candles and gas lanterns for light, a coleman stove for cooking and woodstove for warmth make this the perfect escape for those looking for the kind of back-to-basic rustic comfort rarely available these days.
This is a new, family-run venture from the owners of Kegos Camp. We are looking forward to sharing this rare and unique outdoor experience with adventurous nature lovers who have a solid background in hiking, canoeing, and who aren’t afraid to spend time alone in the outdoors. Guided treks are available upon request.
